National IMI Auto competition held at Stephenson College's VOLVO Academy

Earlier this month Stephenson College hosted the National Qualifiers for the IMI Skills Auto Competition to find the United Kingdom’s best Heavy Vehicle Engineer. The competition, which ran from the 5th until the 7th July was run by the Institute of the Motor Industry and aims to find the top new talent within the industry in Automotive Body Repair, Vehicle Refinishing, Automotive Technology and Heavy Vehicle Engineering. Principal and Chief Executive Dr. Nigel Leigh set to receive OBE from the Queen

Dr Nigel Leigh is one of the 1,109 individuals who have been recognised for their achievements across a wide range of sectors in what is a landmark centenary year for the Order of the British Empire. The college principal, who has been in post since 2007, will receive an OBE in recognition of his services to Further Education and Apprenticeships. READ MORE

Stephenson College has been rated as ‘good’ by Ofsted inspectors, who had high praise for the college’s standard of practical teaching and excellent relationships with industry partners both locally and nationally across the United Kingdom. READ MORE

Bakers Waste donates refuse truck to Stephenson College HGV apprentices

Stephenson College were generously donated a fully functional Trade Refuse Vehicle from Leicestershire-based waste management firm Bakers Waste earlier this month. The refuse truck, which was previously used on the roads around Leicestershire collecting trade waste from the likes of Leicester City Football Club, Donington Park and Leicester Racecourse will now get a second lease of life as a training vehicle for HGV Maintenance & Repair apprentices to get hands-on experience working on a fully functional truck. Hair and Beauty Disney themed catwalk show goes viral in Hong Kong

Stephenson College’s Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy students took to the red carpet to show off their practical skills in their annual catwalk show. While the show was very well attended on the night, it was on social media that the girl’s really impressed. Within several hours of each individual model’s picture going onto Facebook, Instagram and Twitter the college was inundated with likes, shares and comments from overseas. READ MORE
