The College design has been heralded as an example of best practice and offers an innovative, inclusive and inspiring approach to learning. The college design was runner-up in the Royal Institute of British Architects, RIBA/Learning and Skills Council design awards (Nationally) and won the best educational structure in Leicestershire in 2006.
As a Higher Education student you will have access to the brand new, centrally located Higher Education Centre. This is a dedicated facility for Higher Education students and offers flexible access during College opening hours. The facility includes, quiet study areas, lecture and seminar rooms, and a library.

High Standards
A recent Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) commended the college for their high standards in Higher Education and confirmed that success rates are good.
Centre of Excellence
The college is a Centre of Excellence for Construction and Motor Vehicle training and is also a partner in a regional (East Midlands) Centre of Excellence for Teacher Training.

The college has a long tradition of working with employers and has excellent links with the business community on both a national and local level. The current portfolio of clients is impressive and includes; The Fire & Rescue Services, The Lovell Partnership, Taylor Woodrow PLC, Friel Construction, David Wilson Homes, Volvo, Pullman Fleet Services, Biffa Waste Management, Nottingham Council and Leicestershire County Council, Royal Air Force. Midland Mainline, Ibstock Brick, RF Brooks, Redbridge Food Service, Whittles and ARP Plastics.
Stephenson College was also one the first Further Education Colleges in the East Midlands to achieve the Emskills Quality Kitemark for employer engagement and responsiveness.
Celebrating Success
We are very proud of our student's achievements and celebrate their success; all of our successful Higher Education students are invited to attend the College Annual Graduation Ceremony.
Learning Clusters and ICT Facilities
You will be studying in a dedicated 'state-of-the-art' Learning Cluster, which offers classrooms (each with a Smartboard), open discussion areas, ICT facilities and a dedicated Library. The college teaching teams are also located in each Learning Cluster.
The college has Hi-Tech IT facilities that include; a Dual 10 Gb/s Backbone, with 1 Gb delivered to all desktops and 2 Terra Bytes of student storage.
There are home directories for every student and email on request. You will have access to a comprehensive range of software and Virtual Private Network (VPN) access to the network. All course materials are available electronically and a full printing service is also available.
Higher Education/Careers Advisor
The college has a dedicated Higher Education Advisor on-site to assist with advice and guidance on career and Higher Education related issues. The HE/Careers Advisor is located in Student Services (next to the Bistro).
Other Facilities
As a Higher Education student you can also join the College Health & Fitness Suite, have access to our hair salon and beauty and holistic therapy treatment rooms.
