The National Diploma in Uniformed Services is ideal if you want a career in the Police, Fire, Prison, Security or Ambulance Services, the Armed Forces, HM Customs & Excise, community
service organisations or emergency service related organisations. Progression to higher education is also an option.
Entry Level 3
You must have a good First Diploma in Uniformed Services or a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade (A-C), a keen interest in entering one of the uniformed public services, together with commitment, a positive attitude and determination. You will also attend an interview, take an Initial Assessment and be invited to attend a course experience day prior to starting your course.
2 Years (full time).
You will cover a range of topics including government, policies and the public services, citizenship, understanding discipline and diversity, physical preparation and fitness, war & terrorism, skills for land, crime, planning & management of major incidents, wireless communication and employment skills. You will also learn functional skills which are English, Maths and ICT as required.
You will develop skills and practical experience, working with people, communication, planning, researching and evaluating information.
You will collect work in your portfolio which will be assessed as you progress the course.
You could progress to the HNC/HND or Degree in a related field. A National Diploma in Public Services is a good basis for working in any of the Public/ Uniformed Services. The course is also an excellent grounding for many other types of employment and it keeps your options open.
