ATA diagnostic tests are a method for Light Vehicle technicians to prove their ability to diagnose and rectify complex faults in Light Vehicle systems. These systems cover steering, suspension, electrics and engine systems on cars and light vans.
Level 3
No formal qualifications are required, however candidates should be either qualified to Level 2/3 at NVQ or equivalent OR be working in a Light Vehicle workshop and have at least three years experience as a Diagnostic Technician. If you already have a recognised level 3 qualification, you will need to show a year’s work experience.

Candidates will be able to prepare for assessments prior to the tests using college supplied information and self study.
Six practical assessments and online test covering the major vehicle systems.
Successful candidates will receive a nationally recognised qualification at level 3
