Hairdressing NVQ is for anyone who's serious about a career in this exciting industry. Gain the skills you need to work in a hairdressing salon - everything from shampooing, cutting, perming and colouring. A hairdressing NVQ gives you the techniques and experience to start or develop your career in the hair industry.

Entry Requirements

Hair VRQ diploma level 2.
Selection will be made on the basis of an interview and initial assessment. Personal qualities such as self-motivation, a genuine interest and commitment to study are essential.

Course Length

Full time is 4 days over 36 weeks
Part time is 2 evenings over 36 weeks.

How will I learn?

You will learn in a modern, well equipped environment; state-of-the-art hairdressing salons, using industry standard equipment and high quality products. Access to the latest online learning materials will be available, delivered using Smartboards and Plasma screen TVs. The course will be taught using a variety of approaches these include; practical work, directed learning on computers, independent study and tutorials.

Practical assessments
Online tests

Where could it lead?

Following completion of this course, you can progress onto a level 3 VRQ or NVQ in hairdressing. This qualification can open doors to a wide variety of roles including:
Salon assistant
Stylist
Salon Manager

You will need to purchase a kit and uniform from a college recommended supplier. Order forms are available from college.
