This course is equivalent to 5 GCSEs grades A-C. The units are designed to develop a broad range of skills and knowledge relating to engineering.
Entry Level 2
Two GCSEs at grade D - E (including Mathematics). Mature students (over 21) with the relevant work experience need no formal entry requirement, however all students will need to attend an interview and take an Initial Assessment.
1 Year (full-time).
You will cover a ranger of topics including the engineering environment, engineering techniques and principles, welding and fabrication, fitting and assembly, machining techniques and technology (turning and milling) and electrical wiring. You will also learn functional skills which are English, Maths and ICT as required.
You will learn in state-of-the-art facilities, industry standard workshops and have access to the latest online learning materials. A balance of theoretical and hands-on approach ensures a broad multi skilled base.
The programme is internally and externally assessed by achievement of practical assignments and multi-choice testing.
The course is designed as a pathway into employment and progression to the Engineering and Technology Advanced Award.
