The Painting & Decorating Diploma is made up of eight units. The Diploma is designed to prepare students for work in their particular occupational area.
Level 3
You are required to have successfully completed the Diploma in Painting & Decorating at level 2. You will need to attend an interview and undertake diagnostic testing to ensure your basic skills are at the appropriate level for this course.
1 year (full time).
The Diploma Level 3 has seven units and a one-phase test. You will study painting and decorating tasks of a complex nature, individual work programmes with periodic reviews, tutorials, individually assessed tasks and Functional Skills.

Apply paint systems by brush and roller
Apply Hangings to walls and ceilings
Produce specialist decorative finishes
Carry out specialist architectural feature work
Apply water-borne paint systems using airless systems
Prepare surfaces for decoration

Your individual learning plan will help you learn in a way that bests suits your needs. You will agree a work programme with your tutor, which will include the setting of individually assessed tasks, periodic reviews and tutorials.
Progressive assessments of all course elements are carried out on an individual basis. All assessments contribute towards course units which will build for certification. Assessment includes an external test.
The course will provide you with the necessary skills, training and knowledge to progress to an Apprenticeship in Painting and Decorating or employment.
