The Maintenance Operations Level 2 is made up of eight units. The Diploma is designed to prepare students for work in particular occupational areas, such as Brickwork, Woodwork, Painting and Decorating, and Basic plumbing.
Level 2
There are no formal entry requirements, you will however need to attend an interview and undertake both diagnostic testing and the CITB Aptitude Test. This ensures your basic skills are at the appropriate level for this course.
On completion of a Basic Construction Operations course Level 1, the Maintenance Operations Level 2 course will over 36 weeks for 2 days per week. Direct entry onto maintenance Operations Level 2 will mean a two year course.
You will study a variety of associated tasks of a non-complex nature, individual work programmes with periodic reviews, tutorials, individually assessed tasks and Key Skills. Mandatory units: Carry-out safe working practices in construction, information, quantities and communicating with others, building methods and construction technology, carry-out small scale maintenance trade repairs, carry-out small scale painting, decorating and associated trade repairs, carry-out small scale plastering repairs and carry-out small wood trade repairs. Progressive assessments of all course elements are carried out on an individual basis. All assessments contribute towards course units which will build for certification. Assessment includes an external theory test and an in college practical test.
The course will provide you with the necessary skills, training and knowledge to progress to an Apprenticeship in Maintenance Operations or employment.
All kit and equipment for practical work in college will be supplied by the college. A pen, pencil, ruler, calculator and drawing equipment will need to be supplied by you for theory classes.
