Course Description

The BTEC National Award and Certificate in Construction introduces learners to the subject knowledge required for a range of technical and professional occupations within construction. The BTEC National Extended Diploma is a practical work related course. As a student you will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace scenarios. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you will develop the skills you need to start a career in Construction.

If the duration of your course is more than 1 year, further tuition/material fees will be expected 12 months after starting your course unless you are exempt from payment.

Entry Requirements

You will normally need to have at least one of the following:

1. A BTEC First Certificate or Diploma in Construction
2. An Intermediate GNVQ in Construction
3. At least 4 GCSEs at A*-C to include English, Mathematics and Science
4. An appropriate knowledge and/or experience gained at work or from other related qualifications

Course Length

The course consists 36 weeks per year, for two years. Attendance 2.5 days (9.00am – 5.00pm)

A variety of means of assessment are used including written assignments, seminars and presentations.

Your studies should enable you to achieve success and progression into a technical or professional position in the construction industry.

Other than note taking equipment & a Scientific Calculator all resources will be provided via the college. (Currently there is no charge for printing).
