The Site Carpentry Diploma Level 2 is made up of seven units. The Diploma is designed to prepare students for work in their particular occupation.

Entry Requirements

You are required to have successfully completed the Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery at level 1. You will need to attend an interview and undertake diagnostic testing to ensure your basic skills are at the appropriate level for this course.

Course Length

This course will run for 36 weeks for 2 days per week.

What will I study

Performing carpentry and joinery tasks of a non-complex nature, quantities, and communication, building methods and construction technology, first fixing operations, second fixing, erect structural carcassing, carry-out maintenance set-up and operate circular saw.
You will also learn functional skills which are English, Maths and ICT as required.

How will I learn?

Your individual learning plan will help you learn in a way that best suits your needs. You will agree a work programme with your tutor, which will include the setting of individually assessed tasks, periodic reviews and tutorials.

How will I be assessed?

Progressive assessments of all course elements are carried out on an individual basis. All assessments contribute towards course units, which will build for certification. Assessment includes some external tests.

Where could it lead?

The course will provide you with the necessary skills, training and knowledge to progress to either become an Apprentice Site Carpenter or gain employment in the construction industry.

Materials/Equipment Required

All kit and equipment for practical work will be supplied by the college. You will need to bring in a pen, pencil, ruler, calculator and drawing equipment for theory lessons.
