Course Description

This course is an introduction to basic construction crafts. The course will cover basic woodwork, brick/ plastering, tiling and the health & safety issues associated with these occupations.
This course consists of 3 stand alone units covering the topics above. On the completion of all 3 units you will have achieved the full qualification.
The course can be studied on either a full or part time basis.

If the duration of your course is more than 1 year, further tuition/material fees will be expected 12 months after starting your course unless you are exempt from payment.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, but a genuine interest in construction DIY would be beneficial.

Course Length

Full time = 1 year (3 days per week)
Part time = 1 evening (3 hours per week)

What will I study

Basic woodwork, brick/plastering , tiling and the health & and associated with these occupations.

How will I learn?

Learning will consist of practical and theoretical assignments, taking place in both workshop and classroom environments.

How will I be assessed?

Your tutor will assess both your practical and theoretical work on an ongoing basis. You will also produce a small portfolio.

Where could it lead?

On completion of this course you could progress onto a Level 2 Construction course e.g. Brickwork, Carpentry, Joinery or General Construction.

Materials/Equipment Required

All practical equipment will be provided by the college. You will need pens, pencils and drawing equipment.
