This course is intended for learners wishing to
embark in a career in building services but are
unsure of which single vocational option they would
like to pursue.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. All
candidates are required to take Literacy, Numeracy
and an occupational test.

What will I study

This course consists of 7 units covering the
following topics. On the completion of all 7 units
you will have achieved the full qualification.
Ÿ Fundamental Safe Working Practices
Ÿ Environmental Protection Measures
Ÿ Scientific Principles
Ÿ Building Services Engineering
Ÿ Electrical Installation
Ÿ Heating and Ventilation
Ÿ Plumbing Operations

How will I learn?

Learning will consist of practical and theoretical
assignments, taking place in both workshop and
classroom environments.

How will I be assessed?

Your tutor will assess both your practical and
theoretical work on an ongoing basis. You will also
produce a small portfolio.

Where could it lead?

On completion of this course you could progress
onto a Level 2 Access to Building Services, Level
2 Plumbing or Level 2 Electrical qualification.

Materials/Equipment Required

All practical equipment will be provided by the
college. You will need pens, pencils and drawing
equipment.
