The Construction Plant Competence Scheme CPCS plant operator card is the benchmark for Plant Operators.
It helps to ensure that operators meet industry requirements.

Passed the CPCS theory test A09 forward tipping dumper.
1 hour 15 minutes maximum allowed time for the practical test.

Candidate receives a red CPCS trained operator card valid for 2 years if successful.
To progress to a full competence card (blue CPCS) the candidates need to complete the following NVQ units in Plant Operations Level 2.
VR 01 Conform to General Workplace Safety.
VR 02 Conform to Efficient Work Practices.
VR 386 Prepare Plant or Machinery for Operational Performance.
VR 391 Operate Plant or Machinery to Receive and Transport Loads.
Candidates need to bring their PPE with them.
Hard hat, gloves, goggles, ear protection, reflective vest, protective footwear with steel toe cap and mid sole protection.
The college will provide a classroom and welfare facilities.
Forward tipping dumper with a seatbelt and ROPS must be at least 2 tonnes capacity and in a serviceable condition.
Hydraulic operated transmission (i.e. shuttle, hydrostatic or power shift).
Operator's manual.
Ground, clear of hazards which must include:
Rough undulating terrain.
Slope or slopes.
A stockpile of material for loading.
A straight run for reversing.
Trench or edge for unloading purposes.
Machine to load material.
Edge protection.
Items to create restrictions for travelling and manoeuvring.
