Construction is a wide and varied industry, from small
house extensions to multimillion
pound building
projects like Terminal 5 at
London Heathrow, and
more locally the new
Highcross shopping centre
in Leicester.
The UK is bursting with new
and large re-furbishment
projects around the UK that
are creating a demand for
multi-skilled workers.
Forthcoming projects like
the Olympic Games,
Thames Gateway
development and Building
Schools for the future can
only be excellent news for
everyone working in the
construction industry. Most
of the projects highlighted
will require substantial
groundwork activities for
which skilled labour will
be required.
OUR STUDENTS SAY"I started at Stephenson College
in 2005 on a Maintenance
Operations Apprenticeship,
and then changed to Wood
Occupations. I am about to
complete my level 3, Advanced
Apprenticeship soon. I do not
live in the area and the college
provide my accommodation,
I have now been with the same
people for over three years and
feel like one of the family.
The College facilities are amazing
and my tutors give me both
support and understanding.
When I’m at College I always
feel welcome and safe and I’ve
built up a good relationship
with staff and my peers".
