OCR qualifications are designed to provide specialist work related qualifications in a range of sectors. The OCR National Award in ICT Level 1 has been developed to provide opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.
The OCR National Award in ICT Level 1 consists of two core units plus two optional units that provide for a combines total of 240 guided learning hours for the complete qualification.
Level 1
No Entry Requirements
The course is Full time and is for 1 year only, attending college 16½ hours a week. The course runs Monday to Friday
ICT skills for Business – Learners will use a different variety of software packages including word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software and communicate effectively using e-mail and will search the internet efficiently for information.
Website page Creation – Learners will develop an understanding and knowledge relating to the planning and creation of a multimedia website using Dreamweaver.
Digital imaging – plan and produce computer graphics – Learners will develop their knowledge of creating and designing computer graphics
ICT hardware, software and support – Learners will develop the ability to identify and provide the basic technical support required by end users and identify a variety of hardware and software components including creating basic automated procedures.
The course will be taught using a range of approaches including practical work, case studies, group work and individual tutorials as well as individual assignments.
OCR National Award in ICT Level 1 offers direct progression onto a BTEC First Diplomas in either ICT, Business or Multimedia. On completion of a BTEC First, students can progress to a Btec National.
OCR National Award in ICT Level 1 also prepares students for employment in their chosen career.
