Gas Commercial COCN1/ICPN1 (Re-Assessment)

Course Description

A refresher course covering all of the safety fundamentals of commercial gas work, aimed at preparing you for the COCN1 (core) and ICPN1 (pipe work) assessments. You will then be able to apply for the appliance and testing assessments etc. which also appear on the list, if they are applicable to your work.

If the duration of your course is more than 1 year, further tuition/material fees will be expected 12 months after starting your course unless you are exempt from payment.

Entry Requirements

You must have either:
> A previous ACS COCN1 certificate, or
> ACS CCN1 and CODNCO1 certificates

Course Length

A 4 day course. Assessment is undertaken separately; COCN1 is of 2 day duration and ICPN is a half day, making 6 1/2 days in all.

What will I study

This course covers current practices in the areas of:
> Installation
> Ventilation
> Flues
> Controls
> Legislation
> Pipe work

How will I learn?

The course is for experienced people, and the subjects are wide ranging, so are mainly covered in the classroom. This is by lecturer input, written exercises, and research. There are practical tasks also, in certain areas of work.

How will I be assessed?

The ACS assessments are undertaken separately and consist of multiple-choice question papers and practical tasks. COCN1 takes 2 days. The ICPN1 assessment, if you require it, takes half a day. These will be booked separately.

Where could it lead?

After your successful assessment, you will receive your certificate by mail. Please remember that you must obtain further qualifications before you may work unsupervised if you wish to work on appliances, or test pipe work over 35mm diameter, meters over U16 and installation volumes greater that 0.035 cubic meters. Materials/Equipment Required

Please dress for a workshop environment and bring a black pen and a calculator. All other equipment will be provided.
