A refresher course covering all of the fundamentals of commercial catering gas work, aimed at preparing you for the CCCN1 assessment. This is the first commercial catering gas qualification that must be passed before you are able to do any others, such as COMCAT, please see on the list.

You must have either:
> A previous ACS CCCN1 certificate, or
> An NVQ in relevant gas work, or
> Recently completed an auditable course of training in commercial gas catering work, or
> A relevant NVQ in plumbing or an allied trade, or
> Relevant, long experience within the gas industry, which will need to be verified by your employer, or similar person.
A 3 day course. Assessment is undertaken separately, and is of 2 day duration, making 6 days, in all.
This course covers current practices in the areas of:
> Installation
> Ventilation
> Flues
> Controls
> Legislation
The course is for experienced people, and the subjects are wide ranging, so are mainly covered in the classroom. This is by lecturer input, written exercises, and research. There are practical tasks also, in certain areas of work.
The assessment takes 2 days in addition to the training period, and is undertaken separately. It consists of multiple-choice theory papers and practical tasks.
After your successful assessment, you will receive your certificate by mail and you can then apply for the relevant COMCAT assessments, to be able to work unsupervised on catering appliances.
Please dress for a workshop environment and bring a black pen and a calculator. All other equipment will be provided.
