Course Description

The course provides a thorough background for employment; training and education in a wide range of Health and social care professions, such as Nursing, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Care Home. It places an emphasis on the vocational aspects. Work experience, visits and vocationally qualified staff combine to provide an interesting but challenging programme. There is 200 hours work placement included in this course.

Entry Requirements

You will require a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade c or above or a First Diploma in Caring or NVQ Level 2 in Care. Mature students can gain entry to the course based on appropriate previous experience in a care setting. All candidates will be interviewed to ensure that the course is suitable for future career needs.

How will I learn?

An individual learning plan will be developed for you to ensure that all of your learning needs are met. Classroom sessions will provide academic knowledge and an opportunity to take part in practical work. You will also complete a weekly work placement to develop your skills in working with people in a health or social care setting.

How will I be assessed?

Written assignments, presentations, group work and practical skills are used to monitor learning. Some element of external assessment is by awarding body.

Where could it lead?

A wide variety of career opportunities within the Health & Care sector. Higher education courses or suitable employment in various care establishments. Especially useful for those considering a career in Nursing, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Care Assistant, Hospital support services, Social Work, Sociology and Psychology related careers or degrees.
