The candidates should be working in a senior care or managerial role and have the relevant responsibility in this role. NVQ level 3 would be an advantage.
The programme runs over a period of 12 months part-time. Candidates will be expected to attend underpinning knowledge sessions of one three hour period a week in 3 blocks of up to 10 weeks. They will then be assessed in their place of work three times during further 6-week blocks. Candidates will also attend jointly planned tutorial sessions.
Programme delivery will include a variety of methods to reflect individual learning styles. Examples include, group work, discussions, presentations, role-play and question and answer sessions.
Candidates will submit a portfolio of evidence. At least 80 % of this evidence will be observations, as well as candidate explanations, and possibly other evidence as agreed between candidate and assessor. Written feedback will be provided on each observation and on completion of individual units.
Opportunity for further career progression, and stepping stone towards the Registered Managers Award.
