The BTEC National Diploma has an excellent reputation with employers and is also recognised by universities for entry to Degree or Higher National Certificate/Diploma programmes.
Level 3
5 GCSEs at Grade C (or above), or a BTEC First Diploma in Art (at Merit Level). A GCSE in Art & Design or related Level 2 qualification is essential. You will also attend an interview and present examples of your work.
2 years (full-time)
A variety of topics will be covered to develop your creativity and craft skills; these include drawing, image manipulation, illustration, graphic design, interactive media, web design, video production, stop motion and 3D digital animation. You will also learn functional skills which are English, Maths and ICT as required.
In state-of-the-art facilities using traditional and digital media with up to date graphics, video and animation software on industry standard Apple Mac and PC hardware . You will visit galleries, museums and learn through practical work and demonstrations. You will work both individually and as part of a group.
You will be assessed through course work and a final major project. There are no exams.
Higher National Diploma (HND) Interactive Media other Higher National Certificate/Diploma courses, Degree programmes or full time employment in the Art and Design industry. Former students have gone on to study Computer Game Design, Game Animation, Visual Communication, Graphic Design, Fine Art and other art and design subjects.
Essential hardware is available for use at the college. Students are required to supply their own basic materials including sketchbooks, spray mount, and other consumables. Full details are provided on induction.
