If you have good IT skills, good creative ability, are able to work hard at solving problems, and have a love of games then this course could be for you. This BTEC Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production specialises in Games Development and teaches essential creative, technical and professional skills that are a vital for you to be successful as a games developer.
Level 3
You should ideally have 5 GCSEs at grade C or better, including a creative subject and an IT subject. On top of that we like to see an enthusiasm and commitment to learning. All applicants are interviewed.
The course is 2 years full-time. You will attend for 36 weeks each year of the course.

Games Development is an exciting subject and our teaching methods only make it better. We teach expert techniques, skills and industry knowledge through demonstration, 1 on 1 support, tutorials, supported practice, lectures and research projects - and if you still want more we have a whole range of resources available online and in our Library that will help you become as good as you can be.
You will learn from tutors and then have plenty of opportunities to practice and get better. You can show us how good you have become through a range of assignments that generate your final grades.
You are assessed through assignments and project work. Each assignment will count towards your final grade.
This course has the same UCAS value as 3 A-Levels and depending on your grade can gain you direct entry onto a Degree course. Students from our Art, Design and Interactive Media department have gone on to study subjects like Game Design and Game Art at University level.
Essential equipment includes note taking materials, sketchbooks and pencils for developing your ideas. You do not need to have access to expensive computer equipment at home as you will have access to college equipment outside of class time.
