The BTEC First Diploma in Art & Design prepares you for further study and employment within the art & design industry.
Level 2
Entry requirements
You will be at least 16 years old and have a keen interest in art and design, showing the ability to produce work in an art & design environment. Students are expected to have achieved either an Introductory Diploma in Art, a standard of literacy and numeracy, (equivalent to GCSE grades D to G), and/or some related work experience. A GCSE in Art & Design or related Level 1 or 2 qualification is desirable but not essential.
1 Year (full-time).
A variety of topics will be covered to develop your creativity and craft skills, these include drawing, print making, 2D/3D communication, graphic design and interactive media. You will also learn functional skills which are English, Maths and ICT as required.
In state-of-the-art facilities using industry standard Apple Mac and PC hardware, up to date graphics software and traditional media. You will visit galleries, museums and learn through practical work and demonstrations. You will work both individually and as part of a group.
You will be assessed through course work and a final major project. There are no exams.
You could progress to the BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design (Interactive Media). College students have then moved on to careers as Designers, Illustrators, Animators, Game Designer, Web Designer, Advertising, Graphic Design & Fine Art.
