Course Description

The course is aimed at those people who:
> Have an interest in bookkeeping who wish to enhance their career prospects by learning how to use a computerised accounting system
> Have their own business and wish to enhance their knowledge of the processes necessary to keep their accounts on a computerised accounting system
> Already use a computerised accounting system and wish to make better use of the package

Entry Requirements

Whist there are no formal entry requirements, students are expected to be competent in the use of a PC and should have competent keyboard skills. Learners should be familiar with the use of dropdown menus when using computer applications.

Course Length

The course is run on a day or evening basis, for 2 to 3 hours per week. The course is run over an 18-week period starting in either September or February.

> Set-up and maintenance of Company records
> Set-up and maintenance of Customers, Suppliers, & Stock records
> Creating Invoices
> Recording Customer Receipts, Supplier and Overhead payments, producing reports
> Bank reconciliation, VAT Return, Credit Control
> Producing Management reports including: Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Account, Audit Trail
> Back up and Restore procedures
> Protection of Data, Information and Equipment

Note: the course does NOT include PAYROLL

How will I learn?

Practical hands-on with some formal input.

How will I be assessed?

Examination.

Students are able to progress to 'Computerised Accounting - Level 3' or other Accounting and Business courses offered by Stephenson College
